The importance of SDPA grassroots advocacy

September 25, 2019

Former SDPA Legislative Committee Chair and current SDPA Board Member, Hannah Rodriguez, MPAS, PA-C, visits Dermcast.tv to talk about how important grassroots advoacacy is to the Derm PA profession.

“For example, that may be that some legislation is going to passed in a particular state that would keep PAs from doing something that they are currently doing or, moving forward, might prohibit them from practicing to their full scope.”

Speaking of grassroots advocacy…

The SDPA and Dermcast.tv need your voice. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued the proposed Physician Fee Schedule for 2020, and the proposed rule contains important changes to Medicare (pages 65-66) that would substantially benefit PAs and the patients they serve. There is language included that would modify Medicare’s existing physician supervision requirement to defer to state law regarding how PAs practice with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.

It couldn’t be easier to lend your voice.
