The Good PA and the Great PA

In the second half of a two-part series on leadership and professional development, Douglas DiRuggiero, DMSc, MHS, PA-C, discusses how healthcare providers can maximize their talents and skills to improve their careers. DiRuggiero offers thoughts on the difference between a Good PA and a Great PA noting that lifelong education is the key.  “If you got into this profession and you are not a lifelong learner, you are in the wrong profession,” he said, adding that interacting with patients and learning through experience will make you a Good PA, but reading the journals, studying, going conferences, and listening to a variety of informative professionals will make you a Great PA. He shares thoughts on the work-life balance including tips on carving out time to study while spending quality time with your family.
