1. Analyze a range of pigmented lesions to adequately determine whether histological evaluation (biopsy) is necessary
2. Determine when it is safe to conservatively watch pigmented lesions
3. Understand when it is appropriate to refer thin melanoma for sentinel lymph node evaluation
4. Appropriately manage early and thin melanoma according to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines
