September 3, 2019

SDPA President Elect, Archana Sangha, MMS, PA-C, swings by the Dermcast.tv studio for a discussion about the Greater Access for Patients Partnership (GAPP), a coalition of leading professional and patient organizations that aims to improve the dermatology wait times crisis and support access to care. Archana provides the Dermcast.tv audience with a few of the critical findings of the GAPP report, published in May of 2019.

“Our study found out that patients on average nationwide are waiting 35 days for a dermatology
initial or follow up appointment. In places such as Philadelphia, you can expect to wait 78 days;
Cedar Rapis, Iowa, you’re looking at 91 average day wait time.”

Along with the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), members of GAPP include AAPA, AIM at Melanoma, The American Health Quality Association, Derma Care Access Network, Dermatology Nurses’ Association, Melanoma Research Alliance, National Eczema Association, National Alopecia Areata Foundation and the Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation.
