Locally Advanced and Metastatic Melanoma

In this podcast, Dr. Jarell shares how to best manage pigmented lesions and reviews the appropriate National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines on the management of melanoma. The management of “atypical moles” (dysplastic nevi) is also discussed.
Dr. Abel Jarell is a practicing Dermatologist, Dermatopathologist, and Clinical Trials Investigator who grew up in New Mexico, USA. After obtaining his undergraduate education from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was a Distinguished Cadet (top 5% academically) and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, he subsequently completed a surgical internship at the University of Washington in Seattle. He then completed his dermatology training in the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program where he was Chief Resident and a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco. He served out his military obligation at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he was an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University and the medical director of the Melanoma and Pigmented Lesion Clinic.
