100 Trillion Friends You Didn’t Know You Had!

Faculty: Sara Wilchowski, MS, PA-C

As emerging data on the gut-skin axis reveal an interconnectedness to skin disease, we begin to understand the systemic nature of disease from a microbial standpoint. This lecture examines the role of zonulin and food on how it relates to intestinal permeability and how it leads to systemic endotoxemia and molecular mimicry. In this podcast, Wilchowski discusses examples from stool testing, the role of probiotics, nutrition, and glutamine to heal and seal the gut lining to decrease systemic inflammation.
