Rheumatology and Dermatology: When to Treat, When to Refer

Learning Objectives:

  1. Diagnose cutaneous lupus, dermatolmyositis, scleroderma, morphea and vasculitis by recognizing their key dermatologic manifestations.
  2. Order appropriate initial work-up to assess for systemic manifestations of lupus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, morphea and vasculitis.
  3. Prescribe first-line treatment and recommend referrals for patients with cutaneous lupus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, morphea and vasculitis.
  4. Describe dermatologic signs and symptoms that may be associated with rheumatologic diseases.
